Wales Slate Information Event 14.2.18

There was an opportunity to drop into the Talyllyn Railway between 3:30pm – 5:00pm to ask questions to Gwynedd Council officers that are involved in the Wales Slate nomination for World Heritage Status. Andy Rowland Dyfi Biosphere also joined us in order to raise awareness of the Dyfi Biosphere.
The presentations started at 5:30 with Stuart Williams, General Manager at Talyllyn Railway opening the event by welcoming all attendees; Roland Evans the Senior Manager for Economy and Community Department presented first by discussing the nomination for World Heritage Site Status; Dr Dafydd Gwyn discussing what’s special about the area in terms of the slate industry; Stuart Williams, Talyllyn Railway Manager discussing the economic benefits for local businesses and Andy Rowland, Dyfi Biosphere discussing his work and the importance of the UNESCO status to the area.
