Inigo Jones

Before working for Inigo Jones, my experience of working with slate was when I worked at Pen-Yr-Orsedd Quarry in, Y Fron after leaving school.  I would split and dress slates there as well as sawing, a little bit of everything.  I work mostly on the saw, planer and polisher here and have worked for the firm for the past 8 years. My Grandfather was a Monumental Maison working with slate as well; engraving by hand. My father also, used to drive lorries at Penrhyn Quarry.  It’s nice to know that I am a third generation of my family to have worked with slate, continuing a tradition.  I’m quite proud of that, although I never thought I would be doing the same work as them! I enjoy the work, but it’s hard work, heavy work and harder during winter!
